Frequently asked questions

Who can join the club?

Membership is open to children aged 6–12 years in the Akyem Abuakwa Municipality. We work through local schools, where headteachers nominate underprivileged children who would benefit most from reading support. Selected candidates are interviewed, and final approval is given by the Founder.

Is food provided?

Yes. Water is provided at every meeting, and snacks are shared for early arrivals. There is also a 10-minute snack break during the program.

Do I need teaching experience to volunteer?

Not always. While some roles benefit from teaching experience, we also need volunteers for community engagement, event support, and administrative tasks. We provide orientation and training for all volunteers.

I live outside Ghana. Can I still volunteer?

Absolutely. We are actively seeking volunteers from English-speaking countries to help teach, train, and support our teachers and facilitators. Roles range from classroom mentoring to teacher training and curriculum advising. Visit our International Volunteer page for full details.

How long do I need to commit?

Placements can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on the role and your availability. We work with you to find a schedule that aligns with your goals and our needs.

Are you a registered organization?

Yes. Gyankroma Read Well Club operates under the oversight of a Board of Trustees and is committed to compliance and accountability in all our operations.
